Hey, it's Dr. Tiffany here. I want to welcome you to episode 11, Reflect. This is the integrative mental health therapy podcast with Dr. Tiffany and we tackle psychological, psychiatric, neurodivergent struggles, challenges, symptoms from a holistic perspective. My three-leg stool of intervention is to take this on whatever it is from a psychological, neurological, and physiological perspective, and you will get the healing that you're looking for.

And I want to also say thank you. So episode 11 here, Reflect, is actually kind of a follow-up to the downloads that I saw for Thanksgiving gratitude. And I was grateful to see that that struck such a chord with y'all and we had such great downloads for the public podcast. Super pleased about that. And I had promised that episode 11 would be about inflammation, that will be episode 12. So that's coming.

But as all my clients, my practice, is getting ready for the holidays and all this time off, I've been talking a lot more about reflecting. And I said, I gotta get this one out ahead of the holiday here because everyone needs to hear this.

And I think this time of year people are thinking about like goals and New Year's resolutions and how they're going to be someone different next year or something. And it just doesn't align for me with, it just doesn't align with like just it's not on brand is what I'm actually thinking.

It doesn't align for me with how I help people heal themselves. There's so much about who you are, who you've been, where you've been that is important. I do believe the best is ahead of you is yet to come. And at the same time, I believe it will be informed by where you've been.

And we so often can be caught up in being in life and doing life, that we don't reflect on how it impacted us, how it shifted us, how it's informed things. And I am someone who's in coaching and therapy personally myself. So I'm forced to often engage in these kind of mental mechanics and acrobatics that I'm encouraging of you, of like looking back and seeing what is my personal growth look like? What is my personal healing?

I mean, I overcame lupus this year. I mean, I am reflecting, you know, and I just finished a hundred hour clinical mentorship with Dr. Karazian, my hero since like 2011 and the reason I chose the naturopathic school that I went to was because I wanted to make sure that I could one day train with him.

I manifested that I spoke that into reality and I just completed a three year clinical mentorship with, with him and his Institute. I am reflecting. I hope you hear the attitude of my voice. I am so excited about 2023 and I have learned about things that I don't need to have in my life anymore and things that I need to lean into and rhythms I wanna have and areas I wanna focus on.

And how do you know where you even wanna be in 2024? If you're not reflecting on what went well, what were the growth points, growth edges for 2023? What did you learn about yourself and how you make choices personally, professionally, internally? Right?

You know, I became internal family system certified this year, not informed, certified. It was months of my life. And I have learned so much about who I am as a clinician and who I am internally and my own system. And so many of you, we have had some teary, connected, loving sessions as you have gotten to know your own systems because of the work that I did and the training that I did. And so the healing has been shared, right? Reflect on that internal family system of yours.

Reflect on the healing that your body has had. Reflect on how your brain has performed and what you have put in your brain. Reflect on the connections that you've made and spend some time in that. Give yourself some adder girls.

And then there are things that I have, there are parts of me that came forward this year that I am not happy I let drive the bus. And y'all know what that means, that bus driver. And those weren't self-led moments. I was operating from parts that were young or wounded or whatever.

And so I'm reflecting on how did that happen? How did that happen professionally? How did that happen personally? and having grace with myself, what are the semantics of those parts getting triggered? What showed up in my body? Because we've all learned so much together in 2023 about what's going on in our bodies and the semantics.

Where were those parts? And I can remember it, right? I remember how it felt. And so how do I take those learnings into 2024 and then do something with that? not to New Year's resolutions, you know, because I like who I am.

I just want to make sure I'm more self-led in my bus driving. I want to make sure I have these same feelings of pride and accomplishment and healing that I've had in 2023 and 2024. You know, I want to just reflect and I want to encourage you to reflect, to look at the different categories.

Look at your relationships, look at family, look at your internal relationship, look at professional, work-related, look at education, look at the different physical, you know, movement, weight management, you know, nourishment, look at the different areas, reflect.

Don't judge, ask the inner critic to sit back. Reflect. Be curious, be calm in that reflection. Your highest self, that's how you're, that's how you're reflected. What do you see?

And some of you who are listening to the sound of my voice and are gonna connect with me over this week and next week, bring it to your session. Let's reflect together. What you got? And I, you know, I take exhaustive notes in my sessions. I can help you with your reflection.

And then from there, let's set up your experience for these down times, because this, especially in my practice with so much neurodivergency, this having so much time and having so much unanchored time can be a time of like stagnation and chaos and not getting things like done and feeling like, you know, you weren't productive and Why didn't she get all those things addressed, accomplished?

Make sure you go back and you listen to the episodes about ADHD and productivity and how to nourish your brain and what do you need and what should you take and how do you move.

Let's have this be an on track time where you are also resting. So, so let's reflect and then let's look at how we want to use this time over the holiday Where you're resting and having downtime yet You want to set yourself up for success and let's start setting ourselves up for success now Using our prefrontal cortexes And and then we can go into 2024 with oh a plan A plan, okay I hope this landed well in your system and made sense to you. Okay, and I'll see you in the next episode where we will talk about information, but until next time be well.
